In May, I had the opportunity to sit down and design something fun outside of my usual freelance work. I happened to stumble upon Blundstone Canada’s call for entries for artwork promoting this year’s Blundstone playlist campaign — Blundstone Playlist V. For entries to be considered, the artwork had to pay homage to Canada’s beautiful scenery, incorporate musical elements, include a Blundstone boot (or its likeness), and the Blundstone logo. This was a challenge.

Once I read “must include Canadian geography” in the list of requirements I thought, "Group of Seven.” I wanted to use the warm and inviting colours that paint some of Canada’s most evocative landscapes, while still staying true to my vision: something sharp and geometric, but still human.
